Biography
Christina Gagnier is a distinguished technology lawyer with deep expertise in cybersecurity, privacy law, blockchain technology, technology transactions, and intellectual property, Christina counsels leading companies across diverse industries, including consumer goods, cosmetics, regulated sectors, and technology.
Christina serves as trusted outside privacy counsel, helping businesses navigate complex regulatory environments and compliance challenges. She is highly experienced in advising clients on a range of U.S. privacy laws, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), HIPAA, and the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), as well as international privacy regulations such as the GDPR, Brazil's LGPD, and Canada’s PIPEDA.
A nationally recognized thought leader in online harassment, Christina has supported individual and business clients related to nonconsensual pornography, cyberbullying, and consumer protection law. Her insight has earned her seats on federal and state advisory committees, including the Federal Communications Commission's Consumer Advisory Committee, and she previously served as a subject matter expert on cyber exploitation for California's Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training.
Christina’s cross-border expertise and understanding of emerging legal and policy issues have made her a go-to advisor for tech companies and consumer brands dealing with complex issues in AdTech, artificial intelligence (AI), biometrics, and the Internet of Things. Her work spans digital strategy, data privacy compliance, M&A due diligence, and the development of company-specific compliance frameworks. She also plays an instrumental role in helping businesses mitigate risks related to data breaches and crisis management, drawing on her prior experience in crisis communications.
Christina advises influencers and brands on compliance with the FTC's Section 5 regarding unfair and deceptive practices. She assists with alternative dispute resolution and is certified as a mediator in California.
As a clinical faculty member at the University of California, Irvine School of Law, Christina educates the next generation of lawyers on privacy law, while maintaining an active voice in the technology law space.
